      SAY GOODBYE TO ALICE

      we said goodbye to alice
      she got the C
      they said
      it started in her L
      then bee-lined to her B
      no hope they said
so we all prayed to G

yeah she liked to smoke her T
and drink her good old V
and don't we all in that club
that likes to heft a few
      and smoke like chimneys do.

but boy I'll tell yuh bub
      we really got the rub
it made us stop and think
it made us blink and blink
      for quite a dreary spell
how quick she went to hell.

scared us good of our old T
      and V and B and B
      and dub-boo-yoo's and G....
of lots of stuff for a while
and swiped a lot of smile.

so for a time the party was over
as we bid farewell to Al...
      gone forever beneath the clover
too bad for that poor gal
      our ole smokin drinkin pal

      and too close to home....whew!
but then life got back to snappin
      and the party started anew
      'sif nothin ever happen....

      FLOATING EYES

      When he was young
      His eyes were always floating.
They were like two blue balloons
      Floating every and any where...
      Especially through windows.

He could not hold them down.
      They went wherever daydreams
      Took them through the air.

His eyes were very light then.
He could not stop his eyes
      From floating then....
      But then he didn't care.

      Sometimes they'd look back
To see if he was there,
      Wondering where they were.

It was quite a while before
The drops of lead dripped in.
