Poem

      SOMETHING TO RAVE OVER

      He was a big
      man not unlike
      a bear and warm
      . . . warm as winter
      slippers, his heart
      palpatating as he
      watched the races
      his fist banging
      hard on the skel-
      eton banisters

      Horses always
      drew him into
      a state of del-
      erium, "C'mon
      "C'mon, you bitch
      C'mon" and
      drew his horse
      in first

      The Chestnut
      one...she only
      came in first
      to please him...
