Poem

      A MOMENT OF ILLUMINATION

As suddenly the sun lights up the cloud,
transforming my world after months of rain.
I've found a new love. I'm on solid ground
As suddenly the sun lights up the cloud,

After you left, I found myself drowned
by oceans of grief and waves of pain
Now suddenly the sun lights up the cloud.
transforming my world after months of rain.

      PEGGED OUT

The best part is being lifted
      out of the basket
      into the fresh air

I love the flap of clothes
      beneath me, up here
      I see the privet hedge
at the end of the garden
      needs cutting back.

      It's quiet away
      from the washing machine's hum.
      I came from the supermarket,
      before that the factory.

      I still remember pine forests
      being part of something larger
There are so many of us,
      the older ones snap sometimes.
I can see half of one in the mud.

      I don't believe
      in the great laundry basket
      in the sky.
      Life's a breeze
      but when it's done
      you're gone.
