Poem
SEVERENCE
Someone forgets to close the window.
It rains on the garden gargoyles
As it rains in my dreams.
Violet sheet lightening
Lights up your dimpling cheeks.
Sea gulls panicked in prehurricane air
Leave claw marks
On the eggshell lace curtains.
Sweat drips down my chin
To your belly.
You gasp behind me, beneath.
Wind jangles the chandelier.
I arch against your tremulous mouth.
My throat opens for you.
I swallow every ounce of you.
The thing you never said,
You stopped by to give me
One pearl ear ring, my slippers,
News of your upcoming address.
