Poem

      THE UNCONCIOUS MIND OF AMERICA

That boggling armada of economic warriors
      casting their decadent heat
      like spent seed

on the Earth!, that pagan whale's
      thick belly
      owned more and more
      by the greedy few....

...on the ghettos of the Earth
      gone brown with deed,
      gone gray in the mind
      like an urban wintertime

      ...gone thin once more
      like a shaggy whore
      whose passion beat down
      in this sick soldier town

      loves alone such things
      as drugs and money

      ...the money to buy
      salvation as a high
in a good place for prophets
      to lie down and die...
