About the Authors

LAURA SOLOMON was born in New Zealand. She has an honours degree in English Literature (Victoria University, NZ, 1997) and a Masters degree in Computer Science (University of London, 2003) and currently works in IT. She has published two novels in New Zealand with Tandem Press: Laura Solomon was born in New Zealand. She has published two novels in New Zealand with Tandem Press: 'Black Light' (1996) and 'Nothing Lasting' (1997). Her first play, 'The Dummy Bride', was produced as part of the Wellington Fringe Festival, and her second, based on her short story, 'Sprout', was part of the 2004 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her poem ‘The Latest Lighthouse Keeper’ was commended in the Ware Poets Competition, 2007. Her short story collection ‘Alternative Medicine’ is to be published in early 2008 by Flame Books, UK.

G. EMIL REUTTER is from the Philadelphia Pennsylvania area. His work has been published in print at New Vantage magazine in the UK and online at Velvetilusion. The Stump, Underobstruction and Wild and Whirling words.
GARY LANGFORD is the author of 24 books, including 9 novels, 8 books of poetry and 3 collections of stories, the kiwi one being Lunch at the Storyteller's Restaurant, Hazard Press, 2002, (www.hazard.co.nz ), which also reflects he is now a writer who lives and writes in Christchurch and Melbourne.
EDMOND RONAYNE lives and writes in Rotorua, New Zealand.
MARTIN JONES has written a number of mainly anecdotal stories, and has been published in a couple of magazines. He has appeared once before in SOR - in October 2007. He resides in Christchurch, New Zealand, with his wife and two infant sons.
KAREN ZELAS lives in Christchurch New Zealand and has had poetry published in Takahe, The Press, anthologies: Southern Vintage and Land Very Fertile (in press), NZPS anthology 2008 (in press) [one poem Highly Commended, another Commended], read on PlainsFM:Women on Air; two poems Finalists in the Takahe International Poetry Competition 2006. Several short stories have been published, one forthcoming on National Radio and another in bravado. She is Fiction Editor of Takahe.
BARRY SOUTHAM is a well established poet and writer living in Christchurch, New Zealand, and a short story writer and playwright with a large body of published work behind him and several published books of his work.
RUTH ARNISON was born in Oamaru, New Zealand and has lived in various South Island towns since, Now settled in Dunedin with Barry and their teenage sons. Her work has previously apppeared in Takahe, and other magazines.
JULIA FYERS is a citizen of the world and a writer also.
OWEN BULLOCK is a New Zealand writer living in NZ. He is also involved in editing (Kokako) and publishing other writers.
JAN McGRATH lives and writes in Nelson, New Zealand
CALVIN WHITE is a mental health specialist and lives and writes in British Columbia, Canada. He has published his collection of poems, "We Run Faster with the Deer" and has been published in many papers and journals.
CHRIS PARSONS lives and writes in New Zealand has been published in Auckland Poetry, Blackmail Press, JAAM, The Otago Daily Times, Snorkel, and Southern Ocean Review.
PATRICIA PRIME is an Auckland editor, poet and anthologist, widely published in New Zealand and overseas.
JOHN O'CONNOR is a Christchurch poet and publisher. His work has been published extensively in New Zealand and he has had several collections of his poetry published.
MARY CRESSWELL is from Los Angeles and lives on the Kapiti Coast. She is co-author of Millionaire's Shortbread (Univ of Otago, 2003) and has published poems in NZ, the UK, Australia, Canada and the US. By day, she is a research science/medical copy-editor and proofreader.
LINDSAY SMITH is a retired teacher living in Rockhampton, Australia. He is primarily a musician but has written a lot of poetry/prose/blogs etc. His collection of poems, Skyhook, was published in NZ, in 1971. MAUREEN ALSOP'S first full collection of poetry, My first full collection of poetry, Appartion Wren was was released in December 2007, and her poems have appeared or are pending in various publications including: Agni, Tampa Review, New Delta Review, The Cortland Review, Barrow Street, Typo, Columbia Journal and Texas Review.
WILL LEADBEATER lives and writes in Auckland New Zealand and has had a large body of work published over the years
TREVOR REEVES: Editor and Publisher of Southern Ocean Review and poet - writer of short stories that have appeared in print and electronic magazines widely. has published 3 books of poems and one of stories, plus 3 of non-fiction. A recent book is, "Hand in Hand" with Judith Wolfe."
JUDITH WOLFE lives in Dunedin, New Zealand. She is an artist, designer and sculptor. She has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and some of her works have been in travelling exhibitions overseas. Recent exhibitions at the Empire Cinema, guest artist at the Wanaka Art Group Exhibition, August 1997 and exhibited in the Warbirds Over Wanaka air show exhibition, Easter, 1998, and the Cleveland Art Awards, Dunedin, October 1998, and 2001 Also the Columba College exhibition 1999. Two exhibitions, 2000 and 2001 at the Community Art Gallery, Dunedin NZ. Prolific book illustrator including "In the Grip of Evil" Reeves/Wolfe, History of Cobb and co, Fishing for the 90 percent, and Dear Pal (stories of the Maniototo). Home Page: www.arts.org.nz
